Data Analytics Director, Product Analytics at MyFitnessPal

Leads a product analytics team to define key metrics, own experimentation practices, and provide data-driven insights to shape product strategy across multiple product lines.

Lead Posted about 22 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

At MyFitnessPal, we believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide tools, resources and support to enable users to reach their health goals.

MyFitnessPal is evolving into a portfolio of products – a flagship app at scale plus a set of high-growth bets. Every one of those efforts depends on sharp, fast, trustworthy insight. You will build and lead the analytics practice that powers them: defining the metrics the company runs on, owning the experimentation practice that lets teams learn quickly, and turning complex data into the recommendations that shape product strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role: you set the analytical bar, hold it, and coach the team to meet it.

Reporting to our Chief Product Officer, you will lead a team of analysts to identify opportunities, analyze customer behavior, and improve the customer experience by working as a trusted advisor to the CPO and a key member of the product leadership team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and develop a team of product analysts supporting product squads, growth bets, and product and lifecycle marketing
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Product Officer and senior product, engineering, and marketing leaders, helping shape product strategy through data-driven decision-making
  • Conduct and direct in-depth analysis of product and marketing data to derive actionable insights that inform tactical and strategic decisions
  • Define, analyze, and report on key product metrics for the business
  • Own the experimentation practice enabling cross-functional teams to run properly designed and instrumented experiments, and advancing the tooling that supports them
  • Build and execute a compelling, high-quality insights roadmap with a sense of urgency, balancing the need to dive deep with speed to insight
  • Present findings to executives and stakeholders with compelling data narratives that drive data-informed decisions

Qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 10+ years in applied analytics, with 5+ years in product and marketing analytics
  • 5+ years leading analytics teams, with 3+ years leading product analytics teams specifically, with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top talent
  • Player-coach mentality: Conducting hands-on analysis where it matters, and scaling through team and processes in other areas.
  • Proficient with AI-native and traditional data analysis tools; extensive experience with A/B testing and experimentation platforms
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations, strategic product roadmaps, and feature-level optimizations that drive customer engagement and retention
  • Strong bias to action: you identify issues, recommend solutions quickly, and make measurable business impact
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills – you can tailor your message for an analyst working session or a board slide
  • Proven ability to assess data infrastructure, pipelines, and instrumentation, and partner with Data and Engineering teams to improve them
  • Experience leading analytics for consumer-facing native iOS and Android apps

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in at-scale subscription businesses
  • Experience in the health, wellness, or fitness industries

Values you’ll model

  • Be Kind and Care — build with empathy; assume positive intent; support teammates and members.
  • Live Good Health — champion healthy habits and balance in how we work and what we ship.
  • Be Data-Inspired — ground decisions in research and data; measure what matters.
  • Champion Change — lean into ambiguity; iterate, learn, and improve continuously.
  • Leave it Better than You Found It — raise quality, clarify systems, and document as you go.
  • Make It Happen — bias to action; deliver impact with craft and accountability.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $180,000 - $270,000 Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, MyFitnessPal offers a wide range of comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, parental planning, mental health benefits, annual performance bonus, a 401(k) plan and match, responsible time off, monthly wellness and technology allowances, and others.
